Most compass capsules get electrostatically charged e.g. by rubbing against fabric. This causes the compass needle to stick to the capsule, but not K&R compasses. An antistatic damping liquid inside the capsule prevents this from happening. A thermo-elastic K&R compass capsule functions between temperatures of -30°C and +70°C.
K&R Compasses are equiped with a "Perma North" magnet needle which sits precisely and moves smoothly on a sapphire pivot. This ensures a quick response time.
